Nam-Joo Lee

Chairman, Korean Independent Commission Against Corruption

Born in 1938, Chairman Lee dedicated his previous 30 years to NGO activities to enhance transparency of public and private sectors of Korea. Since he was appointed as General Secretary of the organization in 1996, he has played a pivotal role in promoting civil advocacy in Korea. In 1999, he has been also actively engaged in anti-corruption movement, serving as vice-chairman for Transparency International Korea and member of the Presidential Commission on Anti-Corruption. Since 2000, he has carried out chairmanship of the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption under the Board of Audit and Inspection. Chairman Lee was co-chair of the Korean Organizing Committee of the 11th IACC. He is married with one son and one daughter.
